Other Programs, Discounts & Benefits

Page Header

Overview

As part of the Getty benefits package, you have access to a variety of additional programs that can help with work/life balance, save you money and provide important assistance with everyday needs.

The Getty also provides numerous employee discounts to help make certain purchases more affordable and convenient for you. Our discounts apply to a range of brand-name products and services. Whether you’re making a big ticket purchase or organizing a night out at the theater, chances are our program can make it more affordable.

Off Fridays and Holidays

Many departments at the Getty work an alternate schedule, with every other Friday off. The Getty also observes 11 paid holidays each year.

Staff Previews

Staff are invited to view select exhibitions before they are open to the public. These are usually at a time when the Museum is not open, so you can view the works of art with a smaller group of people.

Educational Assistance

To encourage and support your efforts to increase your expertise and effectiveness, the Getty offers educational assistance benefits to reimburse the cost of education that is related to your job and/or your professional development. Please review the information posted in the Employee Staff Handbook for more details.

Student Aid Forgiveness

Working for a not-for-profit organization that is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code may entitle you to receive student loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Information about the program, including eligibility and how to apply, can be found here.

If you choose to apply for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), Cathy Pericone in Human Resources can sign the Employment Certification form that is part of the application process. Please note that this program is administered by the U.S. Department of Education and FedLoan Servicing. The Getty does not review or approve PSLF applications.

On-site Fitness Center

Looking for the fitness center schedule?

The Getty has a fully equipped, professionally managed Fitness Center at the Getty Center location. Employees can work out on their own, have a personal training session with Fitness Center staff, or participate in a group fitness class, taught by Fitness Center staff and specialty instructors.

The professional staff who manage the Fitness Center work with Getty as part of our contract with Health Fitness who also provide regular programs, teach some classes, and offer fun challenges and other activities for members, to boost their health routines.

Employees who are Regular or Limited-Term Getty staff, regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week, Scholars or Interns (over the age of 18) are eligible to join the Fitness Center. Membership is free. Fees for classes are posted on our Class Schedule, found on Getty Online (the Getty’s Intranet site).

Members are required to complete an in-person orientation with Fitness Center staff and, if needed, medical consultation to help determine whether there is anything that could pose a health risk to the member while they are working out. The Fitness Center staff can also provide optional blood pressure/resting heart rate measurement and a more in-depth fitness assessment, on request.

Basic orientation includes a review of the Fitness Center’s policies, tour of the facility, brief discussion regarding equipment usage/purpose, use of locker rooms, etc.

Registration in the Fitness Center’s member management system (Club Automation) is also required. Click here for instructions on how to set up your account. Once your account is set up, members may schedule an appointment for their assessment and orientation, after which members have access to the fitness center 24 hours/day, 7 days per week.

For additional information, review the Fitness Center policies and procedures. Contact the Fitness Center at FitnessCenter@getty.edu, or 310-440-6215 to schedule your new-member appointment or with any questions.
