Overview
The loss of income due to illness or injury can cause serious financial hardship for your family. Disability insurance replaces a portion of your income to help you continue paying your bills and meeting your financial obligations during this difficult time. You have three types of income protection benefits available to you dependent on eligibility:
Paid Family Leave (PFL)
If you have to take time off to care for a seriously ill child, spouse/domestic partner, or parent, or to bond with a new child, you may be eligible for PFL.
- Coverage begins after two weeks of time off.
- Pays approximately 55% of your salary.
- Benefits end after six weeks.
- Provided by the State of California.
- For more information, see the Employee Staff Handbook or the PFL website.
Long-Term Disability Insurance (LTD)
- Regular, full-time employees are automatically enrolled.
- Benefits begin after you have been disabled for 6 months.
- Pays 60% of your salary.
- LTD Insurance is provided by the Getty at no cost to the employees.
State Disability Insurance (SDI)
- Coverage begins after one week of disability.
- Provides wage replacement benefits during time off for non-work related illness or injury.
- Pays approximately 55% of your salary, up to a maximum of $1,000 per week.
- Provided by the State of California.
- For more information, see the Employee Staff Handbook or the SDI website.
